Do you know that our very own Cherating is one of the favourite beaches for surfers? There's even an annual surfing festival that attracts tourists all around the world.
Well, I did not know any of that until I reached there, for the very first time in my life.

We checked into one of the cutest traditional Malay rustic hut ever, which is also a well-known surfing school for merely RM30 a night. And no, there's no en-suite bathroom. Good news is, the beach is within walking distance.

We liked this guesthouse so much that we decided to spend 2 nights here. Personally, I was thrilled to see clothes lines at the veranda where I could finally air dry and hang our stinky laundry.

Surf boards so tall/long that make you look like a midget standing next to them.
Some of you might ask, so what did you do in a small surfing beach in Malaysia?

DRINKING, OF COURSE! And just chill, all day, all night.
You shall not expect a vibrant clubbing scene here in Cherating, as majority of them are Muslims and they live a very simple life. BUT, you still can easily purchase and consume alcohol here.
If you're sick of the hustle and bustle of the city, looking for a weekend getaway without having to hop on a plane, Cherating is highly recommended. While I can't swim, I did enjoy spending some quiet time with my book and journaling by the beach and at our cute little bungalow. Food wise, you can get budget, cheap eats in Cherating.
NEXT- We continued our journey northeast, and landed in one of the states that surprised me the most.
